GCPA recognized those who helped with improvements, including the city of Barnesville, town of Aldora, Barnesville
Lamar Community Foundation, Norfolk Southern, Woodmen of the World, and the many families who have loved ones there and joined in the effort to refurbish the cemetery.
Hedy Cauthen, president of GCPA, welcomed the crowd. She said, "What has been accomplished at the cemetery, with the help of many people, sets the path for the continued protection and beautification of Greenwood. The cemetery is part of the history and heritage of Barnesville."
Barnesville Mayor, Peter Banks, was the main speaker for the event. He closed saying 'that our young people will not only enjoy having the beautiful cemetery but will strengthen and preserve it for generations to come.'
An officer's colorguard installed the dedicatory American Flag on the flagpole donated by the Woodmen of the World.
Boy Scout Troops 17 and 18, bagpiper Leon Ross, and bugler Ernie Thompson were participants and soloist Tim Turner sang the National Anthem.
Participants heard true stories of past Barnesville residents from Costumed Characters. Mayor Peter Banks welcomed the crowd participants. Tim Turner with his lantern guided the tours.
