The Association grew out of efforts begun by the Azalea Garden Club to beautify and repair the cemetery. They received a grant and beautified the resting place of town founder Gideon Barnes. The nonprofit association can accept tax deductible donations to continue the work.
The Greenwood Cemetery Preservation Association is a non profit organization aimed to promote the protection, preservation and appreciation of the Greenwood Cemetery. It strives in all its efforts to ensure the cemetery is maintained with honor and dignity for now and generations to come.
Brick pavers were installed at the entrance.
A wrought iron arch was installed over the entrance with the name "GREENWOOD CEMETERY". Decorative wrought iron and two decorative lights were added
The cemetery streets have been resurfaced thanks to a large donation from the Town of Aldora.
Across the front of the cemetery 31 brick columns and wrought iron fencing were erected , as well as, nine ornate street lights .
GCPA is now working on the addition of a second entrance and the restoration on some of the gravesites.
